Corrective Lenses

I’ve worn glasses off and on since I was 5.  I think I have always fought it though!  A few years ago I finally got to the point where I couldn’t handle working without them.  The computer is hard for me to read and so I started wearing them at work all the time.  Now, I often wear my rx sunglasses at home when I am on the computer.  I don’t generally carry the glasses back and forth from work.

Turning 30 meant it was time for me to get a new drivers license.   I made it to the DMV yesterday during a snowstorm.  I thought it was a good plan to go during the storm and I was right.  There was no line!!   When the guy told me to read the line for the eye test I knew I was in trouble.  I could barely make out the letters and even then I wasn’t quite sure I was right.  The second line he asked me to read was completely blurry.   I failed the eye test and had to wear my glasses to retest.  So now I am legally required to wear corrective lenses while driving!  Super Lame!  That means I have to cart two pairs of glasses around in my purse all the time!  UGH!

Truth is, I have noticed lately how much better I see with the glasses and been thinking I should wear them more.  I don’t mind wearing them but I hate carrying them around and a case for them all the time.     I’m due for an eye exam anytime now.  I’ll probably try contacts for the third time.  The first time I think I was just too young to be responsible with them.  It didn’t work out.  I tried again for the second time a few years ago.  I finally figured out how to get them in and out but it still took some time.  I couldn’t really see well with them in.  Come to find out - the lenses I had were completely the wrong prescription.    No wonder I had so much trouble!

Maybe third time will be the charm?  I need to call and set up an eye appointment but I don’t want to have to take off work to go.  My eye doc is open saturdays but I still can’t make it without taking time off since I work 6 days a week now.  Oh well, wearing glasses all the time will probably motivate me!

Getting old stinks doesn’t it! I hate getting old. You could always try contacts.

Jeff wears contacts and hates them. He swears he is going to get that lasik surgery as soon as his eyes stop changing.

I resisted taking my eye test with glasses on for the longest time, too … I finally gave up on it.

Contacts aren’t too bad, and soft you can hardly tell they are in your eyes. Of course squishing them out of your eyes is kinda gross… LOL. I wear rigid gas permeable contacts and they are like wearing shards of glass in your eyes… at least getting used to them they are. Now I don’t notice them much but (except for trying to get Lazik and not wearing them for a couple years a few years ago) I have worn them since I was in my middle to late teens.

Anyway, rambling here… and the mice are squeaking in the rafters lol… glasses are not so bad!

Welcome to the Old Ladies Club, heeheehee. I have to wear contact for seeing far away, but the contacts now make it so I cannot see close up! So the doc says to wear glasses and contacts at the same time! sheesh!
