Thermography for Dylan!

This is a really old picture but I have always loved it. He’s just such a cute boy and this pic makes me just want to lean over and kiss him.

I took Dylan into the vet on Friday. He had some thermal imaging done so we could see if there were any sore spots from the injury last week. The thermography came back looking good in his hind end but there was a hotspot on his left shoulder. And oddly, there was a hotspot in the middle of the length of his tail. He’s had a hotspot there before and I cannot figure out why. He whacks his tail on everything and a hotspot on the tip is not abnormal but in the middle is a bit odd.

My vet did a chiropractic adjustment on him. She said his right shoulder was pretty tight because he’s been compensating for the soreness in the left shoulder. She adjusted both and he actually let out a tiny little noise when he adjusted one of his ribs. I swear this dog wants to appear so strong that he does a great job of hiding when he is in pain. That adjustment really must of hurt but all we heard was a squeek like it came from a tiny mouse!

His neck had some major adjustments which were also likely from the impact last week. But overall, he seems to have healed up pretty well!

We got to talk a bit about his itching and biting behaviors. I am still journaling them when I notice. She said to double his fish oil for now and see if that helps. He may just have dry itchy skin. So hopefully we will see some improvement.

He also has some new spots appearing on his nose and in his ears. I asked the vet to take a glance at them to see if its something that needs checked out more thoroughly. She said they were just age spots? Kind of like freckles for dogs. It’s supposedly pretty common in dogs of his coloring and I can expect to see more as this boy ages. My heart aches when I think about him actually getting older. I can’t imagine him turning into an old dog!!

Dylan did get a few runs in yesterday at the Course a’Lure. He’s learned that he can jump out of the course at the end so he’s not finishing his runs. The first and only run he finished was an 11.87. That’s not too bad and he came home with a gold medal! He wasn’t as fast as our friend Sneek who ran an 11.6! It was her first time at CAL and we were sooo excited to see her run so fast!!

Anyway, we are hoping he does okay for the tournament this coming weekend! He seems to be doing well overall!

Thermography? Interesting. I wonder if this would tell us anything about Tucker’s condition.
