My Garden Experiment!

My tenants had a garden last summer and I loved it. It was so nice to walk 10 feet and pick a tomato or a zucchini for dinner! It definitely helped me eat healthier too!

Since my tenants that planted the garden moved, I decided to take it on myself this year. I’ve never really kept a houseplant alive so a garden is a huge task! So far so good though! I planted peas a few weeks ago. They are doing well and have blossoms. I also bought some strawberries a few weeks ago but haven’t planted them yet. They already have strawberries growing. I need to get them in the ground ASAP! That will have to happen tomorrow!

This weekend I planted Marigolds to keep the bugs out. I also planted Tomatoes, Zuchinni, Crookneck Yellow Squash, Onions, Butternut Squash, Banana Squash, and three kinds of peppers. I am not a fan of peppers but my current tenants made a special request so I planted them!!

I still need to finish weeding the back corner and get the strawberries planted but hopefully I will have some success with all these plants! I actually kind of enjoyed digging around in the dirt this weekend. I need to remind myself that its not soo bad and get out and do some flowers in the flowerbeds or something too.

I got fried yesterday. It wasn’t so hot so I didn’t realize I was burning when I was out weeding and planting! Oh well, it should turn brown in a day or two!

That does look fun. Do your dogs leave it alone? Honey would have a garden dug up in 2 seconds :(

The dogs don’t have access to the yard when I am not around so I can easily prevent them from digging in the garden. Plus there is a little fence that can’t be seen too well in the pics. The dogs seem to respect the fence pretty well but will try to follow me in once I am in the garden…Otherwise they pretty much just stay out!
